Wedding dress shopping ain't for no suckas.

Do you know why people elope? It's because of this store we went to to look for my sister's wedding dress. She's not getting married until late next year but dang it, we went shopping anyway. It's a tiresome activity and we were subjected to COMMUNAL DRESSING ROOMS which ended my desire to try on dresses with her. Across the street was an extension of the store where I tried on 'maids dresses, none of which fit right, but we got an idea of colors and styles that might be flattering. I did try on a veil or two, and, of course, this tiara.

Monday I crafted, Tuesday I had a pie and pint at the Family Wash, Wednesday I worked, Thursday I did a little shopping, which brings us to Friday. My hair dresser drama!

My hairdresser, who has been styling my hair and waxing my brows for a
few years now, is no longer at the salon. They called to tell me, gave
me her cell, so I spoke with her. I won't go into the salacious details
as it isn't my story to share, but long story short she is now working
from her home. She has toyed with the idea of leaving the continental
US which will make things difficult for me, as her prices were on the
high end (but oh so worth it) but will now be on the prohibtive end.

I'm hoping she stays in town and that she finds a better, friendlier
salon. She is quite talented and if she leaves I will die. And I will
die with super long, damaged hair and gigantic eyebrows.

    New crafts

I'm at the local craft superstore looking for a good project. I'm kind of tired of knitting (don't worry, this happens, my zest for knitting will be back, thank you) so I decide to walk through the aisles until something strikes my fancy. I end up buying some beads and beading accoutrements to make gifts for friends.

But I passed through the scrapbooking section and thought, well, why not? It looks fun and there's a whole heck of a lot you can do. Then I realized that this site is a scrapbook of sorts, what with the pictures n stuff.

    Naughty NPR!

I posted earlier about hearing Sylvia Poggioli exclaim "shit" on NPR on my drive home, something I would've missed had I not been given the green light to leave early (inclement weather). It's rare I experience these sorts of slips on TV or radio--in fact, many years ago Norm MacDonald dropped the f bomb on SNL, and I wasn't paying attention and missed it (he didn't get canned for it, unlike the late Charles Rocket).

A few others caught it, too:

    Riotproof
    Aussiedogs
    Albany Eye

The 12 year old in me thought this was the funniest thing ever. I'm so happy I caught it!

Ms Poggioli seems to be rather classy.

    #300

I went to get some sundries from my local grocer, when I came out it was snowing.

There was snow on my deck when I took the dogs out.

I watched a fabulous movie called Die, Mommie, Die! If you haven't seen it you absolutely MUST. Fabulous.

Also re-watched Muriel's Wedding. Hadn't seen it since my college days. Loved it all over again.

I need a new cell phone but I won't settle for anything less than this fancy slider I saw at the local Sprint store. It's got a 2 megapixel camera!

Speaking of Sprint, I've now got a call tone which is what you'll hear instead of a normal phone ring when you call.

I'm inventing a new alcoholic drink but I have to try out some different types of liquor. It didn't work with tanqueray gin, so back to the drawing board.

Alls I eat these days is pasta and hummus and strawberries with angel food cake and lite whipped cream.

Flash is here. he's asleep beside me, denny's asleep downstairs.

    My head hurts a little.

I watched a movie called Dig that was about the Dandy Warhols and the Brian Jonestown Massacre. One day I'll tell you the story my ex-boyfriend told me about the time his band played with BJM, but that day is not today. If I tell it I'll cry. I'm emotionally fragile right about now.

When a recipe calls for vodka, use vodka, gin might not work.

I am off hormonal contraceptives for the first time in several years right now. Risk of clots and heart disease down. Not planning on hooking up with anyone for a long, LONG time.

No, I won't be watching the olympics. Just not interested. Have enough DVDs to get me through it and OnDemand is my new best friend. Watched today: Dig, Die Mommie Die, a documentary about the word "slut," Muriel's Wedding, and part one of Tipping the Velvet. The last two I'd seen before, but you can read previous parts of this post to find out more information vis a vis that.

I think I'm going to wake up with a headache tomorrow.

    I still miss him.

I'm guessing SNL isn't on tonight.

I've subscribed to a few foreign language podcasts. I'm going to Europe in four years.

I need to pee, that's the one thing that keeps me from writing more in this post.

    email me. I need entertaining.

Rumors of the snowfall have been greatly exaggerated

I walked the dogs out around 9.30 exprecting to have to tunnel my way through the snowdrifts that had accumulated. See, they were warning us of SNOWSTORMS! ANARCHY! My boss even let us go home early to prepare (which I am glad for, as there were traffic jams everywhere in the city, and as I got closer to home there were heavy clumps of wet slush falling earthward that made visibility difficult). But when I get outside it's sunny and lovely, crisp cold, and alight dusting of snow on my deck. That's it. No ice, no real snow, just a little bit of crust on the deck.

Tonight was pasta night in the schmoovecave. It was the Digiorno mozzarella garlic tortellini with the buitoni pesto. Just ok, the tortellinis kept falling apart in the pot and were awfully soggy after (yes, I did drain the pasta, thanks for asking). But for dessert...oh, heavens. Hot Springs, AR is a ton of fun. I am hoping to go back sometime soon, but until then I'm reading books about Hot Springs. This book is a fictionalized version of some real events, using real places. The Arlington has a bit of a role, and I do love the Arlington.

But lots of shoot em up good times. Apparently it's the prequel to some series.

They moved my cheese to the 4th floor

I go for my morning potty trip to discover that the ladies' room is
closed for the day. Apparently they're working on this building. Never
mind that they say this building will be torn down some time in the near
future, it's PROGRESS! So I head down two floors to the available potty
where things are similar but different. This may be a perception issue,
but the toilets and sinks seem to be an inch or two lower. The
auto-flush sensor is much more sensitive. On the plus side they do have
those clever little feminine product trash cans in the stalls. Yes, we
do have an employee restroom here, but the nature of my visit would not
be appreciated by those with offices in close proximity to said restrooms.
