Fifth week of race training: accepting my limits

Folks, the heat has won.  I’m admitting my weakness.

First training run I hit the track.  Have I mentioned the indoor fieldhouse at the gym?  There are two indoor tracks, but the fieldhouse is a huge, standard track and field style track.  The other is above the basketball gym and it’s awful and soul crushing.  Still, both beat the treadmill.  The treadmill is gross.  The indoor fieldhouse stays busy so it’s fun to see the activities happening in the center.  No GPS tracking, but let’s take what we can.

Uneventful, that’s all I have to say.

Second training:  same as the first.  I wanted to take Power 90 but the teacher had an emergency and it was cancelled so TO THE TRACK!  Just as uneventful.

I guess I should have followed suit but I was stubborn and did my long run outside.  It was hot, humid, and gross at 9:30 am.  I only ran the first two miles and walked the last six.  OR was it six?  Long story short, I have a new phone that I did not choose and the gps is awful.  It might be great for the lazy because it showed that I went about a mile longer than I actually did.

I went through 24 ounces of water during the run.  DURING.  thankfully, there are nice water fountains with bottle refilling stations on the course I chose.  There are also major hills.  I’m tired and it’s a long day so forgive the brevity.  I don’t have clever to spare.
